Migrants looking to earn permanent residency in the city must meet 5 qualifications. They should Qualifications for Permanent Residency in SH

1. Hold Shanghai Residence Card for 7 years

2. Join SH's social security program for 7 years

3. Local taxpayer

4. Have professional skills and technical qualifications

5. No police record hold a Shanghai Residence Card for at least 7 years, during which they must also join the city's social security program and pay taxes. They also must prove they have built up professional qualifications in their field.
