Before arriving in Senegal, Hu Jintao wrapped up his state visit to Mali. In his stay, he met for talks with Mali's president, as they discussed deepening friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

In talks with the President of Mali, President Hu Jintao said the world financial crisis poses severe challenges, making China-Africa cooperation of even greater significance.
