Iranian students design robots

Students in Iran have been designing and building robots that can play a piano, kick a ball, and hunt through rubble for earthquake survivors.

Students at Alborz school in downtown Tehran showed their designs in a competition with rival pupils.
Robotics is part of the school's curriculum and schools provide the students with workshops.

Others equip their robots with capabilities such as a metal cutter or flame thrower.
This month an exhibition was held to showcase Iranian inventors and their working designs including a rescue robot, a musician and talking robots.
Ehsan Hosseini Pajooh, robot designer, said, "Our robot is a rescue robot for helping people trapped in debris in earthquake-hit areas or in other accidents where it is impossible for humans to go.
