Mainland visitors bring business to Taiwan

On Monday, the first day of the Chinese Lunar New Year, Taiwan welcomed 3,000 people. That's a record high for a single day. The travel industry in Taiwan is predicting that travellers from the mainland will bring 800 million yuan in revenue to the island during the holiday season.
Many mainland residents visit Taiwan to experience the special festival atmosphere on the island.

Many mainland visitors come to the island ready to shop. Most of the tourists are interested in special, local products.

Statistics from Taiwan's travel industry show that between January 24th and February 1st... some five hundred and fifty mainland tour groups comprising some ten thousand people... will visit Taiwan. It's estimated that each traveller will spend at least eight thousand yuan during the trip. That means the festival period will bring about 800 million yuan worth of new revenue to Taiwan's travel sector.
