5.1 mln rail journeys made on Jan. 17th as travel peak continues

More than five million rail trips were made across China Saturday as the Lunar New Year travel peak continues.

Analysts say the record number will continue as the holiday gets closer. Students, migrant workers and others visiting their families are all travelling at the same time putting pressure on the railway system.

Meanwhile, the air and road transport sectors are facing the same challenges. More flights and bus services are being added to meet demand.
