To cope with the overloaded traffic demand, the railway station will extend the time for selling tickets when necessary while students can buy tickets in a special wicket.
The flow of students and migrant workers as a major part of the Spring Festival rush occured before its expected peak, thus easing the burden for the railway, said Jia Nailin, deputy head of Lhasa Railway Station.
To date, tickets are available ten days ahead of departure, but demand for semi-cushioned berth tickets for Chengdu a bit exceeds supply.
