Special Report: Israel airstrikes in GazaBEIRUT, Jan. 13 (Xinhua) -- Nayef Hawatmih, secretary general of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), announced Tuesday that the Palestinians support the Lebanese unanimous stand which rejects Lebanon's involvement in a war with Israel.
"Lebanon has suffered for a long time, we support Lebanon's unanimous stand to avoid any confrontation with Israeli," Hawatmih said after meeting Maronite Christian Patriarch Mar Nasrallah Boutros Sfier in Bkirki.
He stressed that "all Palestinians, belonging to all factions, are against any attempt to use southern Lebanon for creating new problems for Lebanon."
He condemned launching Katyusha rockets from southern Lebanon last Thursday to northern Israel, describing the incident as "suspicious act."
Three Katyusha rockets were launched from southern Lebanon prompting an Israeli response by firing back several shells. PFLP was accused of being behind the rocket launching.
Hawatmih met earlier with Hezbollah Chief Hasan Nasrallah. A statement following the meeting said that "the Palestinian factions will be able to continue through political confrontation by its unity, until the aggression is ceased, the blockade lift and the crossings opened."
