Venezuela sends humanitarian aid to Gaza

Special Report: Israel airstrikes in GazaCARACAS, Jan. 11 (Xinhua) -- The Venezuelan government began to airlift humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, the country's Foreign Ministry said Sunday.
Venezuela will transport 12.5 tons of medicine and food to the area, and will send additional 80 tons of food next week, the government said.
Once the plane lands on the Egyptian capital of Cairo, the material will be transported by land to the Gaza border and taken to the Palestine assistance centers, the Agencia Bolivarian de Noticias (ABN) news agency said.
The Venezuelan humanitarian aid mission is consisted of 40 doctors and paramedical staff, in cooperation with Venezuelan Foreign Ministry, Egyptian Foreign Ministry, and humanitarian organizations in Gaza.
