Hezbollah leader issues warning to Israel

Hezbollah leader Sayed Hassan Nasrallah has warned Israel that it could not destroy Hamas.

He said that if Israel attacks Lebanon, it will be "crushed".

Nasrallah issued his warnings at an anti-Israel gathering on Wednesday. His speech was broadcast on Hezbollah-controlled al Manar TV.

A large crowd in Beirut's southern suburbs, protesting against the Israeli onslaught in Gaza, cheered Nasrallah as his speech was shown on a large screen TV.

The leader accused Israel of seeking to liquidate the Palestinian cause and urged his supporters to be on alert. He said Hezbollah should be ready for anything.

Hezbollah has thousands of rockets and trained fighters, but has so far held its fire. Nasrallah also called on Arab nations with ties to Israel to sever their relations.
