The panda pair from the Mainland are slowly putting back on the weight they lost in their first week in Taiwan. The Taipei Zoo says Tuan Tuan and Yuan Yuan are adapting quite well.

The pandas initially lost some weight as they adapted to their new home and diet. After their arrival on Tuesday, Tuan Tuan had lost more than 4 kilograms, but is now back to nearly normal. His mate Yuan Yuan lost just under 4 kilos, but has regained nearly half that amount.
The pandas are now willing to eat Taiwan bamboo, which they refused at first. About 90 percent of the bamboo they now eat is locally-grown. Tuan Tuan and Yuan Yuan are also getting friendly with their Taiwan feeders. The Taipei Zoo built a new house for the pandas. They also have their own garden and playground enclosed by noise-proof glass.
