Japanese youth group visits China

A delegation of 1,000 Japanese youths arrived in Beijing on Thursday, the last group to take part in the "China-Japan Friendly Exchange Year of the Youth".

High school students of a Japanese youth delegation arrive at the Beijing Capital International Airport in Beijing, capital of China, Dec. 18, 2008. The 1,000-member-delegation arrived here on Thursday, rounding off this "China-Japan Friendly Exchange Year of the Youth." Breaking into seven small groups, they will respectively visit such cities as Ningbo, Hangzhou, Jinan and Qingdao in the east, Xi'an and Baoji in the west, Shenzhen and Guangzhou in the south and Dalian and Shenyang in the northeast. (Xinhua Photo)

The delegation was led by former Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda. Breaking into seven small groups, they will travel to 7 Chinese cities holding activities with their Chinese peers and exchanging views on various topics.

The China-Japan Friendly Exchange Year of the Youth was launched by Fukuda and Premier Wen Jiabao to allow young people from the two countries to get a better understanding of each other.
