Antarctic station to be renovated

China's 25th Antarctic Expedition team has begun surveying the area around Zhongshan Station, ahead of major renovations to the station.

Zhongshan Station was built 19 years ago and its facilities  are now outdated.

Zhongshan Station was built 19 years ago and its facilities are now outdated. The renovated station will have energy saving facilities which are more environmentally-friendly.

A new scientific research building, garages and a waste and sewage treatment center will also be added to the station.
