BEIJING, Nov. 17 (Xinhua) -- Leaders of the Communist Party of China (CPC) have visited nine places in the country to find out how well Party members, officials and common citizens were learning and implementing Scientific Outlook on Development. It is considered an important guiding principle for China's economic and social development.

From mid October to mid November, nine members of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Hu Jintao, Wu Bangguo, Wen Jiabao, Jia Qinglin, Li Changchun, Xi Jinping, Li Keqiang, He Guoqiang and Zhou Yongkang visited local Party organs. , said a statement issued by the CPC Central Committee here on Monday.

They urged local officials to address people's welfare and economic problems. Leaders also asked Party and government officials to pay attention to problems that common people complained about most and work out solutions.

"We should make the campaign a program to benefit people, improve their livelihood and protect their political, economic, cultural and social rights," the statement said.

"When uncertainty and instability increase in the domestic and international economy, we should stick to pushing ahead with economic development and maintain a momentum of stable and fast growth," the statement said.

Through the visits, the CPC hoped officials would get rid of ideas that did not fit in the Scientific Outlook on Development, solve problems that stem the country's development and mend problems that harmed the Party's image.

In September, the CPC launched a one and a half year campaign to study and apply the Scientific Outlook on Development, which was adopted by the party at the 17th CPC National Congress in October 2007.
