Somali pirates have released a hijacked cargo ship in the Gulf of Aden. The release took place on Sunday morning.
Officials say all 18 Indians crew members onboard the Japanese-owned ship are safe. The pirates hijacked the ship on September 15th.

Earlier, the hijackers had demanded a ransom of six million US dollars for the release of the crew. But they later brought down that figure to 2.5 million.
The area off Somalia has been in anarchy and without a central government since 1991.
The waters are considered one of the world's most dangerous for ships, due to a proliferation of pirates.
