Special Report: U.S.Presidential Election 2008LOS ANGELES, Nov. 6 (Xinhua) -- Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa may not seek a job in Barack Obama's White House, although the U.S. President-elect has asked him to be part of his economic transition team, the mayor's aides said Thursday.
Villaraigosa's "only plan is to run for re-election" as the Los Angeles mayor, according to an official of the mayor's office.
Villaraigosa is reportedly going to meet with Obama and Vice President-elect Joe Biden in Chicago Friday, after he was asked to be part of Obama's Economic Transition Advisory Board.
The meeting is considered part of the effort to develop a strategy the new administration can put into effect after taking office. Participants also include billionaire Warren Buffett and other business leaders and government officials.
Villaraigosa, who supported Senator Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primary election, backed Obama and campaigned for him after Clinton officially suspended her campaign and placed her full support behind Obama.
