Medical reforms to focus on 5 aspects

The Chinese government has started soliciting public opinions on medical reforms for universal health care. Officials say the government will focus on 5 aspects.

The goal is affordable health care for all Chinese by 2020. First priority is given to speeding up the coverage of the basic urban and rural medical security system. Second is a basic medicine pricing system. Third is the improving the local medical and health service systems. Fourth is equal basic public health care for urban and rural residents. Fifth is reform of public hospitals, in particular management and operations.
