People around China donate to quake zone
People around the country have been donating money and clothes to help quake victims stay warm during the coming months. |
In Shaanxi Province in northwestern China, 74-year old Nan Cairong spent 3 months making 103 cotton coats. She's sent them to the Wenchuan Women's Union in Sichuan.
74-year-old Nan Cairong said, "I hope people there live in good health and enjoy life in their rebuilt homes as soon as possible."
It's not just adults who know how to show love to their compatriots. Children in Hunan and Zhejiang provinces have spent their pocket money to buy gloves, socks and scarves for people their own age in the quake zone.
A student said, "I'm leaving this heart shape on the scarf I bought. I hope kids there can feel the warmth of my heart."
Donations are also flooding in from Hebei, Liaoning and Guizhou provinces. So far people in Jilin, Shandong and Jiangsu have donated hundreds of thousands of cotton coats and quilts. And all the materials will soon be sent to the quake-hit regions.
