Jing Runpeng is also a 42 year old male. Born in October 1966 in the city of Yuncheng in north China's Shanxi province, he joined the airforce of the People's Liberation Army in June 1985.

With several years' experience as a first-class pilot, he was chosen as one of China's first generation of astronauts in January 1998.

In 2005, he was selected as a reserve for the Shenzhou VI mission. In June 2008, he was selected to join the Shenzhou 7 mission.
