Handicapped friendly apparel makes debut

A line of apparel catering to people with disabilities was unveiled to the public on Monday in the Olympic Green in Beijing, Xinhua news agency reports.

The clothing exhibited on stage was designed and produced by professionals from the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology. A Care Apparel Center was established in the institute on the same day.

The "care apparel" is especially designed for those who have difficulty in dressing as well as those with special clothing needs. The clothes can also be altered to suit functional and appearance requirements.

Psychological and physical comfort are taken into consideration when designing and choosing materials for care apparel in order to enhance a sense of well-being for the wearers and to reduce chances of accidents and hazards, the report says.
