China's Zhang Zhen claimed the title in the men's 5-thousand meter T11 competition on Friday. Blind runner Zhang later hung the gold medal around his running partner's neck in a gesture of appreciation for his hard work.

Zhang Zhen sprinted to the finish line in the men's 5-thousand meter final to claim the gold medal.

Song Jinbao from Shanghai University of Sport was Zhang  Zhen's running partner.

At the medal ceremony, he placed the medal around his running partner -- Song Jinbao's -- neck.

Zhang Zhen,Chinese Athlete,said,"The only thing I can do is hang this gold medal around his neck. This is the best way I can pay him back."

At the Athens Paralympics, Zhang Zhen had to pull out of the competition because there was no running partner for him. He had to stand by while another athlete took the title.
