Preferential policies offered to poor quake-hit students

Preferential policies are being implemented to offer financial aid to students from poor families in the area devastated by the May 12th earthquake.

The aid is targeted at poor students of high schools and universities who are from the three quake affected provinces and Chongqing municipality. Students will be exempt from tuition fees in the coming 2 terms and an annual subsidy will be offered on a means-tested basis.

The Ministries of Finance and Education have called on officials and schools authorities to carry out the policy immediately.
