Sarkozy to attend Olympic opening ceremony

Reports from the French presidency's office say President Nicolas Sarkozy will attend the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics.

The office was quoted as saying Sarkozy would represent the EU because France now holds the rotating presidency of the 27-nation bloc.
