Central gov´t officials meet representatives of Dalai Lama

Central government officials, Zhu Weiqun and Sitar, and the Dalai Lama's two private representatives, Lodi Gyari and Kelsang Gyaltsen, met on Sunday in Shenzhen.
The officials said the Lhasa riot on March 14th was against the will of the peopleand had jeopardized the fundamental interests of all Chinese people, including Tibetans. It caused great public indignation and was strongly condemned by people from all walks of life.
The two officials said it was completely correct for the local government to take actions in accordance with the law to maintain social stability and to safeguard the country's legal system and the basic interests of the people.
The officials also said that as the Lhasa riot had been put down social order was being restored. They noted residents enjoy full freedom of religion, and wish for stability and development. The officials said facts showed that the guiding policies of the central government on Tibet were correct. Through the concerted efforts of people from all ethnic groups, Tibet will have an even better future.
