China wishes to work with Sweden to deepen cooperation

China's top legislator, Wu Bangguo, and Premier Wen Jiabao have both held separate meetings in Beijing with Swedish Prime Minister, Fredrik Reinfeldt.

While meeting with Reinfeldt, Wu Bangguo noted ties have been developing smoothly since diplomatic relations were established with Sweden 58 years ago. Wu Bangguo says China is committed to building a energy-conservation and eco-friendly society. He says China wishes to work with Sweden to deepen cooperation on the basis of mutual respect and benefit.
Reinfeldt says Sweden highly values its relationship with China, and hopes to strengthen dialogue. He says Sweden would like to develop cooperation with China in energy savings, emission reductions, and on tackling climate change.
During his talks with Reinfeldt, Premier Wen Jiabao pointed out that Sweden was the first Western country to establish diplomatic ties with the People's Republic of China. During the past 58 years, mutual trust and understanding have been deepened. He says trade has increased dramatically in recent years, and China has become Sweden's biggest trading partner in Asia.
Wen Jiabao says China is willing to strengthen exchanges on human rights with Sweden on the basis of equality, to promote enterprise investment, to expand exchanges on humanities and social development, and to improve free trade and sustainable development under the China-Europe framework.
Reinfeldt says Sweden advocates free trade and opposes trade protectionism over China. He says Sweden wishes to expand bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, and Intellectual Property Protection. Reinfeldt also says Sweden adheres to the one-China policy, and wishes the Beijing Olympics great success.
After the meeting, Wen Jiabao and Reinfeldt attended a signing ceremony for cooperation documents.
