China's Foreign Ministry has responded to the Dalai Lama's recent open letter to the Chinese people saying he is trying to dodge responsibility for the March 14th riots in Lhasa. Spokeswoman Jiang Yu has called on the Dalai Lama to stop triggering more chaos and stirring up tensions.

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu said, "On the one hand, the Dalai Lama says he wants to negotiate with the Central government, but on the other hand, his clique is creating more social unrest, which disturbs the upcoming Olympics and damages the foundations for negotiation. If he really wants to talk with the Central government, and return to the Chinese community, he should stop all the attacks, looting and arson; stop everything that harms a successful Olympics; and stop all the activities aimed at splitting Tibet from China."
