In Tehran, Iran's Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said on Sunday that the UN Security Council resolutions against his country's nuclear programme were both illegal and politically motivated.

Mottaki did say Tehran was ready to negotiate with Europe over its nuclear programme.

The foreign minister's comments came just days after President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad appeared to rule out any nuclear negotiations with Europe, saying the issue would only be discussed with the UN atomic watchdog agency.
