He criticizes top White House contenders for being too close to big business.

Nader, who also ran as a third-party candidate in the 2000 and 2004 presidential elections, made the announcement on NBC's "Meet The Press" programme.

The 73-year-old says most people are disenchanted with the Democratic and Republican parties due to a prolonged Iraq war and a shaky economy.

He also blamed the Bush administration for tax and other corporate-friendly policies that he says have left many lower- and middle-class people in debt.
