The provincial meteorological department has issued a yellow alert, warning that northwest regions of the province could be hit by snow storms.

Yunnan has experienced the coldest weather conditions for three decades over the past month.

The severe weather has seriously damaged agricultural production, disrupted road links and badly affected locals'every day lives.

Consecutive days of rain and snow are also expected in Qinghai province and the Tibetan Autonomous Region.

Snow and cold weather will also hit the country's northeast regions and Inner Mongolian autonomous region.
