Iran has strongly condemned the assassination of Hezbollah commander Imad Mughniyeh and the reaction of western countries to his death.

Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, Iran's former President and Head of Iran's Experts Assembly, was the speaker at Tehran's Friday prayers. He says the West's evident pleasure at Mughniyeh's death is "shameful."

He implied the West is acting hypocritically at the death, which he sees as an act of terrorism. Sheikh Attar, Deputy Iranian Foreign Minister for Economic Affairs, also spoke.

He announced the formation of a joint Iranian-Syrian team to investigate the assassination.
