China's Ministry of Construction says it will step up efforts to improve housing conditions for low-income families through three initiatives.

The first is improving the housing guarantee system. The priority is to set up a low-rent housing system and enhance construction and management of affordable housing system for low-income families. Helping middle-class families to solve their housing issues is another major task. The ministry adds that for large and mid-sized cities with high housing prices, the ministry should shift its focus towards providing more affordable houses to mid-income families. Third,the ministry says it will exert more control to stop the rapid increase of housing prices.
The ministry says it will work out and release the housing construction plan in the near future.
