Keeping traffic moving is key as the roads are crowded with holiday travelers. The Ministry of Public Security has made safety a priority for the country's police. Inter-provincial police cooperation will be improved to guide heavy traffic to regions less affected by the severe weather.

Some ministries have made efforts to help people get on with their daily lives. China's top economic planner has reduced management charges for food vendors and transportation vehicles.

The Ministry of Commerce strengthened the monitoring system for food, especially the pork supply.

The agricultural authority has launched a project to recover production in worst hit areas.

Wang Shoucong from Ministry of Agricultural said, "Besides increasing production, we are also transferring more vegetables from southern and less-hit areas."
