The police officers from Britain's Scotland Yard are assisting with the investigation into the murder.

They have visited the scene of the attack, the hospital where many of the survivors are recovering, and the morgue.

The attack on Bhutto left about 20 dead.

Pakistan's President Pervez Musharraf has acknowledged investigators may have drawn conclusions too quickly and mishandled evidence, including hosing down the site hours after the attack.

But he insisted the government was competent to run the investigation.
