Iran has confirmed it is ready to hold another round of talks with the United States over the security situation in Iraq.
But it stressed that it wants the Americans to leave Iraq and hand over power to the Iraqi government.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ali Hosseini says an Iranian delegation currently in Baghdad is negotiating with Iraqi officials to achieve better outcomes in upcoming talks with US officials.
He says the delegation is urging Americans to keep their commitments. Hosseini says the suggested time for the next round of Iran-US talks is early January.
He also says he isn't sure when the construction of the Bushehr nuclear power plant will be compete. The plant plays a central role in international tensions over Iran's nuclear programme.
