Special Report: Chang'e I -Journey to the MoonLaunched from the Xichang Satellite Center in southwest China's Sichuan Province, Chang'e one has already been operating in space for 7weeks.
Established in 2004, the Chang'e One project covers 3 stages of moon exploration: orbiting, landing an unmanned rover, and collecting lunar samples.
5 major systems have paved the way for the success of Chang'e one's lunar journey. The satellite system consists of a platform and 8 kinds of scientific facilities to carry out exploration work. The rocket and launch center systems ensure the successful launch of the satellite. And the tracking and control system control the whole mission by directing the orbit and realizing the final scientific objectives with the help of a communication network at land and sea.
Chang'e one has been sending back signals to the Ground Application System for data collection and analysis. The system also sends instructions to carry out scientific work in space.
