China keeps close ties with DPRK

On behalf of President Hu Jintao, senior CPC official Liu Yunshan conveyed a message in Pyongyang to Kim Jong-il, the top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

The message says the Chinese government and the new CPC leadership will continue to work closely with the DPRK. They will implement the understandings reached by the two sides, further deepen friendly cooperative relations and make greater contribution to realizing sustained peace and common prosperity in the region.

Liu commented positively on the DPRK's development. He says the CPC and the Chinese government will firmly support the people of the DPRK in exploring a development path that conforms to the actual situation in the country.

Kim Jong-il says his government will strengthen communications and its relations with China.
