The UN Security Council is urging Sudan's government and Darfur rebel groups to participate in this weekend's peace talks on Darfur, in Libya. The talks are aimed at forging an urgent cease-fire and peaceful resolution to the conflict in the region.
The council hopes all parties can implement a cessation of hostilities and allow the African Union - United Nations Hybrid Operation, to be deployed in Darfur. But some rebel groups have rejected the invitation, saying their requests for a delay have not been heeded.
