Special Report: 17th CPC National CongressThe Communist Party of China has amended the Party Constitution at the 17th national congress. Party analysts say the amendment reflects the "Scientific Outlook on Development" and other major theoretical issues. It will be the main guideline of the CPC's decision making in the future.
Since the founding of the Communist Party of China 85 years ago, the Party's Constitution has been amended 14 times. A senior researcher from the Party's Central School says the amendments show the Party's ability to adapt to new circumstances.
Zhang Xiaoyan, professor CPC Central Party School, said, "The Party Constitution focuses on the Party's political guideline, roadmap and policies of development, and the regulation of Party members' behaviors in a certain period. In different periods, the CPC will amend its Party Constitution, concerning different tasks under different situations."
Zhang Xiaoyan says the amendment made in the 17th Party Congress carries on the spirit of the previous Party Constitution, developed under the guidance of Marxism-Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory and the important thoughts of Three Represents. And being in line with the changes and development of the Party's tasks and situation, this amendment added new concepts.
