Overseas Chinese hail CPC Nat´l Congress

Chinese living overseas are showing interest in the Party Congress.The strides in social development in recent years have given them confidence in China's future.

China's EU mission held talks in Brussels to celebrate the opening of the congress. The delegates will apply Jintao's analysis of international situations to their work.

Li Fushun, Charge d'affaires of China's Mission to the EU, said, "We are on the front line in dealing with European affairs. We must study and grasp the spirit of the Secretary-General's report and help push forward the strategic partnership between China and the EU."

In Berlin, local Chinese people are closely following the process of the national congress and the changes in policies.

Tang Mengling is a Chinese in Berlin. He said, " Hu Jintao says the per capita GDP will be quadrupled. This shows the great concern of the Party and government about people's lives. The rise of China's economic power has raised the status of us overseas Chinese."

Chinese-language papers in Bangkok are also following the Party Congress. Trade between China and Thailand has risen by nearly a third in recent years.

China's development has also helped spur the development of its neighbors.
