Central government delegates discuss Hu Jintao´s report

The 38 delegations of the 17th Party Congress have been continuing their group discussions on Hu Jintao's Party Report. Representing diverse sectors and regions, Party delegates voiced their feedback in relation to their experiences and backgrounds.

These delegates represent CPC members of the central government agencies. Since most of them are key figures to implement the government's policies, their group discussion has attracted a wide range of media attention. And their understandings of Hu Jintao's Party report are believed to be crucial for the country's future development.

The delegations of the central government departments are comprised of about 200 members. Many of them are key officials from such sectors as social security, public health, agriculture, and education.

A Vice Minister of the State Development and Reform Commission praised the country's consecutive growth. But he also pointed out the government must face problems arising from the current stage of the development.

Chen Deming, a CPC Member said "We're now at the primary socialist stage. The contradiction is the people's increasing need and the backward productivity. As government's departments, we should be aware of these problems and clarify ways to solve them."

The Minister of Commerce used specific trade figures to compare China's growth since its opening. He says China has become the world's third largest economy compared to 29th, two decades ago.

Bo Xilai, a party delegate said "The report attributes all our achievements and economic development in the new era to the opening up and reform policy. Facts from the foreign trade sector prove that we should stick to the road with Chinese characteristics and uphold the reform and opening up policy."

Meanwhile, the Foreign Minister called for the need to contribute to a harmonious world.

Yang Jiechi, a CPC Member said "The report says the current international situation is favorable to China's development. However, it also points out new challenges in this regard. Our work in the foreign relations sector will focus on sticking to China's peaceful road, and promoting mutual benefits with other countries."

Other speakers delivered their endorsement of Hu Jintao's Party report, especially the scientific outlook on development, which will serve as the guidance for the party in the new era.
