Turkish Foreign Minister Ali Babacan warns of escalating tensions in the Middle East. He says the region is in a delicate and sensitive stage, particularly in Iraq, Palestine and Lebanon. He hopes there will be progress at an upcoming US-sponsored Mideast peace conference on all tracks, including Syria.
Babacan assured Damascus it will not let Israel use its airspace to strike Syria.
Ali Babacan said, "Turkey will not allow that its territories or its spaces are used for any activities that may be bad for Syria in terms of the security of this neighboring country."
