Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says the issue of his country's nuclear ambitions is closed and a matter to be handled by the UN watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency.
Ahmadinejad made the comment at the 62nd session of the UN General Assembly. He has accused Western powers of trying to deprive Iran of its right to nuclear energy. Ahmadinejad says despite military threats and illegal sanctions, Iran has moved forward and his country is now recognized as having the capacity to produce industrial-scale fuel for peaceful purposes.
Meanwhile, French President Nicolas Sarkozy insists the way to resolve the Iranian nuclear issue is combining firmness with dialogue.
