Yuan has her energy-saving tips: Water used for washing clothes or food can be reused for plants or flushing toilets. Use energy-saving bulbs for lighting. Switch off air-conditioner.
Yuan said,"When my neighbors visit, they find it hard to believe that we use so little water and electricity."
This one family has saved so much money and energy. But if the 400 million families across the country can take small energy saving measures in their daily life, the end result is impressive.
The government is transforming the concepts into reality. New designs are helping households to save electricity, water and gas.
Lv Wenbian of National Development Reform Commission,said, "People need to be motivated to participate in energy saving. We have to encourage citizens to engage in the campaign so as to achieve effective results."
Trial operations are currently taking place in communities across the country. The government is preparing to launch a restructuring project to modernize infrastructure for saving energy.
