Chinese foreign minister Yang Jiechi has held talks with US Secretary of State Condolezza Rice in New York.
During the meeting, Yang said the Sino-US relations have improved through communications and coordination on major international and regional issues.
He said the two governments should enhance cooperation on the basis of mutual trust and respect. Yang thanked the US for its opposition to the Taiwan authority's dangerous bid for UN membership.
