A new medical insurance system has taken effect in Beijing. And for the first time in the city's history, all students and children are covered. What's more, the financial burden of paying for medical treatment has also been lightened.
This two year old boy suffers from kidney failure. His low income family had to spend tens of thousands of yuan for medical treatment over several months. The situation will change when the boy joins the new medical insurance system.

Wang Yumei, mother, said, "I had to pay more than forty thousand yuan for my son's last medical treatment. In accordance with the new policy, my family will only have to pay around twelve thousand. It's quite good news for us."
