Chinese lawmakers continued their deliberations on a series of draft law amendments on Sunday. The amendments are undergoing their first reading at the current session of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress.
The proposed amendments discussed on Sunday included changes to the law on a circular economy, the law on mediating and arbitrating labour disputes, the law on preventing and controlling water pollution, and the law on scientific and technological progress.
The draft law on scientific progress clarifies the country's strategy of boosting scientific development through innovation.
Scientific workers would be given more incentives and high-tech enterprises would enjoy favorable policies.
Wan Gang, Science & Technology Minister, said, "Researchers will own the intellectual property rights of government-sponsored science programs, except those relating to national defense and national security, and concerning major social issues and public interest."
