The office the first of its kind in Central America will play an important role in the promotion of trade relations between the two countries.
A Chinese commercial delegation has been sent to the Costa Rican capital San Jose where the Chinese embassy will open on Thursday.
China says it is working to increase economic cooperation with Costa Rica and other central American and Caribbean countries. It comes a day before the opening of a trade fair, in San Jose, that aims to expand bilateral trade with the country.
