Dozens of protesters have marched outside the United Nations headquarters in New York.
They aimed to put pressure on the UN and the US to enter into talks to free the 21 South Korean hostages in Afghanistan.
Peter Jeon, of the Korean American Association, says the US and the UN need to act quickly. Jeon says the US and the UN have not exercised their considerable power in helping to resolve the issue.
South Korean media reports say the hostages have been divided into groups, and a number of them are sick. South Korean diplomats in Afghanistan have contacted at least one of the 21 hostages.
