Special Report: 60th Inner Mongolia AutonomousThis year is the 60th anniversary of the founding of North China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Local officials say the economy has grown considerably over the past six decades. The comments come ahead of next month's official anniversary celebrations.
Senior officials from Inner Mongolia say the autonomous region has been growing rapidly and soundly since it was founded. In recent years economic growth has been particularly strong.
The region's GDP hit 479 billion yuan, or some 60 billion US dollars last year. This is 196 times more than the figure before the establishment of the autonomous region.
Inner Mongolia's per capita GDP stands at over 20-thousand yuan -- that's the tenth highest nationwide. And financial revenue has surged about eighty times compared with sixty years ago.
