New Mainland and HK economic agreement signed

The central government has signed a new complementary agreement to CEPA, the Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement between Hong Kong and the mainland.

The agreement was signed by Henry Tang, the secretary of Finance in Hong Kong, and Vice Minister of Commerce Liao Xiaoqi.

Chief Executive Donald Tsang and Minister of Commerce Bo Xilai attended the signing ceremony. The supplement to CEPA is expected to further open the mainland market to Hong Kong.

Tang says it will provide more opportunities for business in Hong Kong and improve its comparative advantages.
