Trap bomb explosion wounds 4 in Thailand

The explosion of a trap bomb in southern Thailand has wounded three policemen and an Australian photographer.

The bomb, believed to be the responsibility of Muslim militants, exploded as a team of police were carrying out an inspection on the body of a Buddhist man shot dead and set on fire. Thailand, a largely Buddhist country, has been racked by a Muslim insurgency killing more than 22-hundred people since early 2004.

Despite the violence and increasing calls for more drastic action against militants, the Thai government remains committed to a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
